Dazu steht am kommenden Montag (18.02.) ein entsprechender Gesetzentwurf auf der Tagesordnung des Innenausschusses, der vorsieht, die Absätze 2 und 3 des § 2 der Landeswahlordnung abzuschaffen. Die erste Lesung des Entwurfs fand bereits im vergangenen Dezember im Abgeordnetenhaus statt. Mehr Demokratie Berlin-Brandenburg begrüßt diesen Plan.<span class=apple-converted-space> </span><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=DE style='font-family:"-webkit-standard",serif;color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=DE style='font-family:"-webkit-standard",serif;color:black'>„Die Abschaffung der Wahlrechtsausschlüsse ist längst überfällig,“ sagt Regine Laroche, Vorstandssprecherin von Mehr Demokratie Berlin-Brandenburg. „Wahlrecht ist ein grundlegendes Menschenrecht und es ist nicht nachvollziehbar, warum Bürgerinnen und Bürger mit Behinderungen dieses Recht bislang vorenthalten wird. Mit diesem wichtigen Schritt kommt das Land Berlin der Umsetzung der UN-Behindertenrechtskonvention im Bereich der politischen Teilhabe ein großes Stück näher“.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=DE style='font-family:"-webkit-standard",serif;color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=DE style='font-family:"-webkit-standard",serif;color:black'>Laroche erhofft sich zudem eine Signalwirkung für andere Bundesländer und die Bundesebene. Die Regelungen für das Wahlrecht der betroffenen Personenkreise sind bundesweit bislang uneinheitlich. Berlin wäre das sechste Bundesland, dass die Wahlrechtsausschlüsse für Menschen, die unter sogenannter Vollbetreuung stehen, auf Landesebene abschafft. Auf Bundesebene existieren die Wahlrechtsausschlüsse weiterhin.
